World Food Community Kitchen

The problem

Many asylum seekers and refugees come from a culture where the men are not taught to cook for themselves, as it’s the women’s job in their society. This is a basic life skill they are lacking for independent living.

The solution

Every Wednesday, Our Neighbourhood holds a drop-in session for refugees and asylum seekers at Leaf Hall between 10am-1pm.

Here, they can learn how to cook or practice new recipes and try new tastes. Each week they can prepare and eat lunch together, practice their English in a safe and friendly environment, and experience a variety of food from all around the world.
